Background: Grace Presbyterian is a vibrant and caring church in Beaver Dam that is committed to improving both the spiritual and physical well-being of their congregation as demonstrated by their designation as a Blue Zones Project Approved faith-based community. The church emphasizes community within and outside of their walls with regular social gatherings at Riverfront Wine Bar and small group gatherings around a common mission. They also host an annual family fun event at Easter. To help church members make healthier choices easier, Grace Presbyterian held a Purpose Workshop, plant slant potluck, and a make and take cooking class. The monthly Courier, a newsletter distributed at Grace, was used to communicate about Blue Zones Project and other well-being educational opportunities.
Visuals: Ceremony with ribbon cutting and Blue Zones Project Approved certificate being presented. A potluck picnic will follow outside, weather permitting. The potluck will be held indoors if inclement weather.
Blue Zones Project is brought to Dodge County through sponsorship by Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, in collaboration with Sharecare®, Inc. and Blue Zones, LLC. Dodge County is the first Blue Zones Project demonstration site in the state.
