HORICON AQUATIC CENTER REMINDERS
RULE
# 1
Swimmers must
shower before entering the pool and proper swim attire is required. No
cut offs.
REASON...
This is a State regulation. RULE # 2
Gum, food,
beverages, and tobacco are not permitted in or around the pool area. The
only
exception to this is a plastic bottle filled with water. Food must be
consumed in the concession
area. Carry-ins are not permitted.
REASON...

RULE
# 3
Water rings;
floatation suits and other floatation devices are not permitted. A person
with disabilities will be permitted to use a Coast Guard approved Life
Jacket.
REASON...
Inflatables are not reliable float aids. The air contained in them expands
and retracts with changes in temperature. The devices also tend to promote
over confidence resulting in a safety hazard. Please see a lifeguard for
an information sheet. RULE
# 4
Street shoes
are not permitted on the deck.
REASON...
Dirt and contaminants are tracked onto the pool deck by street shoes.
Please remove your shoes in the shower area. Pool shoes are permitted. RULE
# 5
Children 6
years and under MUST be accompanied by an adult in the pool area.
REASON...
This is an age that has been set as responsible. Younger children tend
to be less aware of depth and his or her limitations. RULE
# 6
No running
on the pool deck.
REASON...
Running may result in a fall and serious injury. The pool deck can be
crowded increasing the risk. RULE
# 7
Diving: Swimming
is not permitted between the diving boards; only one person on the board
at a time; closed during adult lap swim times; backward tricks are not
permitted; please do not turn the tension wheel; diving is allowed in
the well only.
REASON...
State regulation. Also, diving is a high-risk activity. It is not possible
to watch where you are going when diving backwards. RULE
# 8
Slides: You
MUST be 42" tall to ride. Swimming is not permitted in the slide
area; no double riding; no catching at the bottom; spinning is not permitted;
closed during adult lap swim times. Lifeguard will NOT catch kids.
REASON...
Risk of injury increases when catching, riding double, spinning, and being
unable to swim or touch. The lifeguard must be attentive to all of the
patrons. Catching does not allow for this. RULE
# 9
Sitting/standing
on shoulders, spitting/spouting water, rough play, balls, hanging on the
ropes, and public displays of affection are not permitted.
REASON...
Rough housing and these other activities increase risk of injury and distract
the lifeguards' attention. The pool ropes are for emergency use only.
They break easily increasing the risk of losing track of the pool depth. RULE
# 10
People with
open sores, rashes, and diarrhea in the last 2 weeks, and other communicable
diseases are asked to please refrain from using the pool.
REASON...
This is a State regulation.
RULE
# 11
Please do
not use regular diapers for children and adults who are unable to control
his or her bladder or bowel.
REASON...
Regular diapers have a tendency to explode. This results in the contents
entering the pool. This is bad for the filters and increases the chances
of a fecal incident. Swim diapers are available at local stores and in
catalogs. Please contact the pool manager if you need further information.
