to celebrate achieving Blue Zones Project Approved™ Grocery status

 

What: Ribbon cutting ceremony being held to recognize Mountin’s Piggly Wiggly in Mayville as the newest Blue Zones Project Approved™ Grocery

Background: Mountin’s Piggly Wiggly has completed the Blue Zones Project grocery pledge and, as a result, has helped make healthy choices easier for their customers. Mountin’s serves healthy plant-based prepared foods in their deli, highlights healthy and locally-grown food selections throughout the store, and provides an impressive selection of whole grain breads for grab-and-go sandwiches and their bakery department. In addition, Mountin’s offers healthy cooking demonstrations, provides store tours that show their shoppers where healthy ingredients are located, and distributes easy-to-follow plant-based recipes in various store locations.

Blue Zones Project is a community-by-community well-being improvement initiative designed to support longer, better lives through permanent changes to environment, policy, and social networks. Blue Zones Project is brought to Dodge County through sponsorship by Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, in collaboration with Sharecare®, Inc. and Blue Zones, LLC. Dodge County is the first Blue Zones Project demonstration site in the state.
